Winter Olympics Stars Hope to Find Homes for Stray Sochi Dogs

The players on the U.S. men’s hockey team aren’t just winning games in the Olympics. They are winning friends, too, for promoting an effort to find home for the droves of stray dogs in Sochi, amid reports that dogs were being rounded up and exterminated prior to the Games.

“Stray dogs, it’s kind of a sad thing to see,” said James van Riemsdyk, the U.S. forward from Middletown, N.J. “To see them placed in a home would be a great thing.”
