Vets Get Together to Discuss Pedigree Dog Breeding

BVA Animal Welfare Foundation 2009 Discussion Forum – Breed it, see it, fix it? And Global warming – a welfare issue?

The latest in the increasingly popular BVA Animal Welfare Foundation invitation-only discussion forums takes place this year at the Royal College of Physicians on Tuesday 12 May. As part of the Foundation’s aim of improving animal welfare through debate, it holds an annual Discussion Forum which brings fellow vets, animal welfare and government organisations together in order to identify and discuss important welfare-related issues.

Following the success of last year’s ‘Designer animals or breeding for welfare’ session, the morning sessions this year will be devoted to pedigree breeding from the point of view of the vet in the consultation room. ‘Breed it, see it, fix it?’ will address the veterinary surgeon’s ethical dilemmas with a variety of both companion and farm animal species.
