Major Puppy Traders Will be Sentenced

Three men and three women from the Greater Manchester area are due to be sentenced at Oldham Magistrates’ Court today ( Monday, 3 August, 2015) for numerous animal welfare offences connected to the trade in puppies, some of which were sick and later died.

The hearing is listed for 10am.

All charges have been brought by the RSPCA under sections 4 and 9 of the Animal Welfare Act as part of a major investigation into organised crime connected to the trade in puppies.

Thomas Patrick Greally (28.12.83), of Valentine Street, Failsworth, Manchester, has admitted jointly with Stacey McEwan, two offences of causing unnecessary suffering to two puppies and eight offences of failing to protect puppies from pain, suffering, injury and disease.

Stacey McEwan (8.12.84), of Valentine Street, Failsworth, Manchester, has admitted jointly with Thomas Patrick Greally, two offences of causing unnecessary suffering to two puppies and eight offences of failing to protect puppies from pain, suffering, injury and disease.

Louise Anne Colwell (20.1.87), of Fields New Road, Chadderton, Oldham, has admitted jointly with Kenneth Ryan Colwell four offences of failing to protect puppies from pain, suffering, injury and disease.

Kenneth Ryan Colwell (10.8.87), of Fields New Road, Chadderton, Oldham, has admitted jointly with Louise Anne Colwell four offences of failing to protect puppies from pain, suffering, injury and disease.

Paula Amanda Wood (12.7.68), of Owler Lane, Chadderton, Oldham, has admitted jointly with James Brady one offence of failing to protect puppies from pain, suffering, injury or disease due to a failure to implement and apply an appropriate disease control procedure.

James Brady (29.5.62), of Symond Road, Blackley, Manchester, has admitted one offence of jointly with Paula Amanda Wood failing to protect puppies from pain, suffering, injury or disease due to a failure to implement and apply an appropriate disease control procedure.
