Artesian Normand Basset house training problems!!

OK. So here goes. I’m really hoping that someone can help us because we are in dire straights with our girl. She is a 10 month old Artesian Normand Basset and does not seem to grasp the fact of not weeing in the house/car etc. We have spent many hours with her, showing her that she should wee outside.. But she holds on until we are in the house and then makes a massive puddle on the floor.

She does the same thing in the car. We all go for day trips and bring her with us. We leave as soon as she has weed outside so she doesn’t need to go when we are on our way. During our 2 hour walk, she does not wee. But as soon as we get into the car, she lets her full bladder loose and wees all over the seats and on the floor. My boyfriend gets angry because we have tried for so long with her. We have had her since she was 8 weeks old!!!

It seems like she wants to go exactly where she knows she shouldn’t. Just now, what gave me the urge to plea for help on here, I took her and my boyfriends’ sisters’ dog for a walk. Both of them weed on the grass, my pup tends to copy the other. I praised her and gave her a small treat, which she goes nuts for. She was happy because I was happy with her. But as soon as we stepped in the house, she went straight to the rug and made a puddle in the middle. The house is tiled, but she specifically goes on the mat!!

When she wees inside the house, I tell her ‘No’ and put her face near it. I then grumble at her a little bit and take her outside to show her where she is meant to go. I leave her there until she is quiet. But when my boyfriend has her, when I’m not around, he yells at her and makes her sit in her corner, most times showing her outside where she is supposed to wee first.

I don’t know what to do because this is getting embarrassing and frustrating. My boyfriend doesn’t like bringing her on our day trips because he knows the she will hold on until we are in the car, or until we get home. I am sick and tired of cleaning up after her all the time. She is almost a year old and she still wees inside! I know that cleaning up after her comes with her learning and I am patient, but it’s like she doesn’t want to listen to us.

Please help!! I don’t know what to do!
