American Bulldog, Bronx became the first dog in a case brought under the Animal Welfare Act against an owner who deliberately got the animal drunk.
Bronx’s 31-year old temporary carer, Andrew Wilson, gave the dog enough Stella Artois lager for the pet to actually be considered over the human drink drive limit.

Wilson was also accused of hitting the dog with a stick and giving the dog other alcohol in the form of spirits.

Police were alerted to Bronx’s treatment where he was discovered to have bleeding, shaky and unsteady. Wilson was supposed to be looking after the dog at the time.
He was given 150 hours’ community service and was banned from keeping any warm-blooded mammal for the period of 12 months.
