Times are tough all over, this I know. A work meeting was arranged for yesterday, which I couldn’t attend, but I had been informed that I was probably going to lose a day’s work a week. I talked to my manager and let him know that whilst I would obviously prefer not to lose the day, if it has to be done it has to be done and could I possibly get the three days off in a row because it’d enable me to spend a bit more time with my OH who makes a 6 hour round trip to see me every week.

Well, I just got an email from a colleague this morning; Not only am I losing a day a week, the extra day isn’t bundled with my other days. Oh well, I thought. Then I saw that my days off have been changed from Friday and Saturday to Sunday and Monday; how this is going to impact seeing OH I have no idea because he’s his mother’s carer so can’t just bugger off to visit me whenever he feels like it. Not only have they robbed me of a day’s work and moved my days off for the second time in a year without my permission but we’re now only working 7 hour shifts and we’re not being paid for our lunchbreaks. That means that I’ve gone from a 40 hour week to a 24 hour week in one fell swoop. My money’s never been fantastic anyway and I don’t know how I’m going to cope.

Oh, and even though I work for my brother I’ve been rostered to work the day of my other brother’s wedding.
