Approval of dog training/management devices??

Submitted by admin on June 14, 2009 – 11:30 pm2 Comments
Currently we have many dog training aids and management devices and many views on their effects on dog welfare. In the case of the e-collar studies are now being conducted, many years after their introduction to assess their welfare impact on dogs (and other animals).

What would happen if all new training or management devices had to be assessed (at the inventors expense) before being passed as legal for use ?

Would this be a good thing? Or would it merely restrict new training technologies and devices?

  • I don't beleive in collars etc, there are more positive means of training your dog than that.

    Do you agree?

  • There is absolutely no excuse for using inhumane methods for training your dog.

Dogs can be trained perfectly by using positive reenforcement methods. Dog owners need to stand up and take responsibility. They need to take the time necessary to train their dogs and not use short cuts or easy options that will actually do more harm than good in the long run

Traumatizing your dog into submission is not the answer, forming a healthy bond is.
